Hello there. We have very few actual "rules" concerning TC. Mostly because we're governed by common sense, but the rules we do have we are very strict about. They exist to keep things flowing smoothly and fairly. The following is fairly brief and rigid, but that's to cut out confusion. These rules only apply to raiding.
Rules-
1. New applicants may ONLY sign up in the queue for a raid, until their 2 week trial period is over. They will only be added to the raid if there is an open spot. After their two weeks is up (GM will notify you), you are a full fledged member.
2. Players must use the Schedule on our website to sign up for a raid. They must click confirm in order to avoid the site from placing them in the queue. Note: Signing up for a raid does NOT automatically mean you will be able to go. You may still me required to sit or be moved to the queue.
3. Players must declare a main character and it's main spec when joining the guild. If further info is needed it will be asked in regards to that spec. (Such as duel-wielding, two handed, etc) This will be recorded by Savi for loot distribution.
4. If you are going to be late you must contact to the raid leader BEFORE the raid starts. If you have not joined the raid by start time, you will be replaced.
5. Raid rosters are confirmed and set 24 hours before the raid time. Changes are able to be made, however this is largely so that people can adjust their real lives as needed.
6. Never save your main character to non guild declared content. For example currently we are raiding ICC 10. It is considered declared content. Do not raid will other guilds in ICC 10 with your main character. Alts are not subject to this, but are encouraged to follow it. ICC 25 is open game.
Loot-
1. Main characters ALWAYS get to roll before alts on an item. Even if the item is an offspec item to them.
2. Main specs ALWAYS get to roll on an item before offspec roles.
3. The raid leader will select which players who get to roll on an item via their listed (see above) spec. For example if an item has Hit on it is obviously a DPS item.
4. Selected players roll Need. Everyone else passes.
5. If no main character wants the item, offspec are allowed to roll. Then alts.
6. If no one wants the item, it is disenchanted or vendored for the guild bank.
-BOE items are handled the same way, however if no one wants them they are put into the guild bank for other players not in attendance or for sale on the AH with the proceeds going to the guild bank.
Raid Leading-
1. There will always be a person acting as raid leader.
2. If you are acting as raid leader you MUST know the details on the encounter, understand the loot rules, understand other classes, and handle invites and the roster. You are responsible for everything that a raid requires.
3. Savi will not sit out a raid, unless someone else steps up publicly and volunteers to raid lead. This must be done ahead of time.
4. If a non guild member attends due to a shortage of sign ups, then the raid leader is required to make sure they understand the loot rules BEFORE the raid starts.
Practices-
1. In order to ensure that everyone gets a chance to raid we ask that players sit out once in awhile so others may go in their spot. Currently this has resulted in a player sitting once every 4 weeks.
2. We have a long tradition of passing on an item when it would be a better upgrade for someone else or if we've already won a drop in the raid.
3. Vent. Even if you can only hear. It's better if you can talk. Don't be the person who wipes the raid because you can't hear.
4. You put the raids needs over your own. If it means doing adds, dying, or running a different spec. Do it.
5. We have fun, get rowdy, joke around, and get the encounter done. We don't face roll it. We do it right.
6. Loot should be handled quickly. We have other encounters to get to in a limited amount of time.
7. Flask. Food. Potions. You are responsible for it. On new content every single "edge" counts.
8. If you have a question or concern ASK in a normal manner. Mistakes are made. We'll sort it out.
9. Don't ever publicly link a meter unless your asked to. We are all running them for a variety of reasons.
Attitude, Improvements and Utility-
We are not a raid guild. However WoW is a game of stats and checks. We try and get around that by focusing on teamwork, organization, and honesty. There will be times when your character will not have the gear to make a encounter easier. There will times when you the player will not have the skill needed to make an encounter easier. You will make mistakes at times. It happens. We all do and will again in the future.
Attitude-
1. One single bad attitude will cause an entire raid's morale to suffer. We play WoW to have fun. It is a video game. Don't be a knucklehead.
2. No matter what task you have during an encounter. It is important to do your best. It doesn't matter if your personal damage output suffers. It doesn't matter if tanking adds is boring. You do your assignment because the raid needs it.
3. When you make a mistake it's not the end of the world. Take responsibility for it, correct it and move on. Don't get bent out of shape when the next person makes one.
4. Be honest with your performance and your gear capabilities. Do not expect others to carry you to gear. You may not be ready for some content. Don't penalize 9 other people because of your wants.
5. Come prepared. We have a HUGE thread about our experiences in individual raids and tips and tricks for specific encounters. Read up on other sites, especially class specific sites.
5. Sometimes we get frustrated. Sometimes a raid leader has to get stern. It isn't personal. It's about getting 10 people to accomplish 1 thing.
Improvements-
1. Every single one of us *could* be better.
2. Is all your equipment gemmed (we have several JC's and a bank full of FREE epic gems), enchanted (same), patched (same)? If not you are holding back the raid.
3. Understand your class and it's synergy. Read multiple sources of information, watch a few you tube videos, practice your rotations. WoW CHANGES each patch. Stay current.
4. Keybind don't click. Keybind your most used abilities. It will make you a better player. Practice them till you can do it blindfolded. Once you have your "core" down, keybind some more.
5. Turn with your mouse. WASD users are worse at kiting, moving, reacting quickly, and often their "numbers" suffer. It isn't a myth. Certain encounters require more then standing still and face rolling.
6. Understand cast latency. WoW has a built in mechanic to account for client to server latency. Do NOT wait for your current "spell" to end before casting your next. You should be pressing your next key as soon as your able to queue up the next ability. Further, the spell is not actually "cast" until you RELEASE the key. Certain add ons even show you the latency in your cast bar so you can account for it.
7. Five man gear is not meant to outfit you for raids. The new ICC five mans are meant to FILL spots in your gear. The items often lack gem slots. Gearing a character is easier then ever now. Badges are the surest way to gear. Run your five mans, buy your badge gear. Get crafted gear made. Don't rely on drops.
8. Add your two cents. No one should know your class better then you. If you have an ability or idea that makes an encounter easier, bring it up.
9. Be honest. Figure out what your not good at. Figure out a way around it. Is it as easy as making a macro to fix? Downloading an add on? Find the problem. Fix it. We all have things we aren't good at.
10. Ask for help.
Utility vs Uberness-
1. Meters do not matter if the raid wipes. High DPS doesn't matter. Being the last to fall, doesn't matter. HPS doesn't matter. Finishing the encounter, matters.
2. Certain classes excel in certain situations. All encounters are not made equal. You are never judged on a single encounter.
3. Utility is key. One nights were missing class "X" who is good at CC, we may ask class "Y" to do it. Your character has a ton of abilities, the raid may need to use them. It does not matter if your personal numbers suffer.
4. Be proud you can play your character well.
5. You should be even more proud if you can help someone else play there's well. Instead of taking ten minutes to complain about something, take 10 minutes to try and fix it.
Info-
http://elitistjerks.com/ - One of the better sites to understanding how your class works and what "hardcore" people are finding works for them. Check the class sites. Don't get lost in all the spreadsheets unless your ready for that. Start simple. Devour it, then move on.
http://maintankadin.failsafedesign.com/ - If you are a Protection Paladin and you haven't been here, you've failed. EVERYTHING a paladin needs, and encounters from a paladin point of view.
http://www.tankspot.com/ - A general resource for all players, tankspot also feature exclusive information for tanks of all sorts, especially warriors. However their movies are often top notch in terms of production and available before anyone elses.
http://www.worldofmatticus.com/ & http://www.plusheal.com/ - An excellent site for healers, while the plus heal forums have excellent info for healers of every single class.
http://www.wowhead.com/ - An excellent source of information regarding items and encounters. It is *the* WoW databse.
http://www.bosskillers.com/ - Another excellent source of materal encounters and they now have videos.
http://www.stratfu.com/ - Another resource site for encounters.
http://wowmb.net/ - The Warlocks Den. A fantastic site from a Warlock point of view.
http://outdps.com/ - An excellent site for Hunters. There are a million hunters and a million hunter sites. Out DPS does a good job at being concise and timely.
http://wwwyoutube.com - Use the search feature. Want to see other people's rotations? Put your class, rotation and patch version in the search. Not everything on youtube is current or correct but it's a nearly unlimited resource to use.
I hesitate to include the WoW forums because they are full of more noise then anything else. HOWEVER if you can go to your class forum and find a sticky post about your class, chances are it's a decent place to start.
